The Intake Financial Clearance Specialist is a key part of the Revenue Cycle department, responsible for coordinating insurance verification, pre-registration, and prior authorization activities that support both patient satisfaction and reimbursement accuracy.
About the Role
As an Intake Financial Clearance Specialist, you’ll be the bridge between patients, providers, and payers—helping secure the necessary financial clearances that allow care to move forward without delay. You’ll use your attention to detail, communication skills, and insurance knowledge to navigate payer systems, obtain authorizations, and ensure all patient information is accurate and compliant.
This is a 100% remote position.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Pay: $22–$24 per hour (based on experience and location)

Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics, insurance, and referral/authorization requirements prior to service.
- Obtain and document payer-specific approvals and pre-certifications for scheduled appointments.
- Communicate proactively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives to resolve issues.
- Record all updates accurately in registration systems for primary, secondary, and tertiary coverage.
- Collaborate with revenue cycle, clinical, and utilization review teams to ensure financial clearance.
- Handle calls courteously and follow established scripting and service standards.
- Escalate denied or delayed authorizations per department policy.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
What You’ll Need
- High School Diploma or GED required (Associate degree preferred).
- 1–3 years of patient registration or insurance verification experience.
- Solid understanding of insurance terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes, and prior authorization processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage complex or emotional situations.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Zoom) and electronic health record systems.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet productivity standards.
