Role Overview
The Customer Service Specialist (CSS) plays a critical role in Medicare Advantage operations, ensuring prior authorization requests are processed quickly and accurately. You’ll help members and providers access the care they need without unnecessary delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process incoming prior authorization requests in line with CMS guidelines and internal protocols.
- Triage and route incoming faxes to the correct teams and systems.
- Communicate with providers and internal teams to clarify requirements or obtain missing documentation.
- Maintain accurate documentation in CRM and authorization systems, meeting SLAs.
- Manage daily work queues and escalate urgent or complex cases when needed.
- Contribute to team excellence by joining meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or healthcare certification preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare customer service, prior authorization, or medical office administration.
- Familiarity with Medicare Advantage and CMS regulations (preferred).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with healthcare systems (CRM, fax platforms, PA portals).
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation.
- Experience handling PHI and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
