Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit hospital, hospital-based physician, and Rural Health Clinic claims to Medicare (electronically or in DDE).
- Secure and submit required medical documentation requested by Medicare.
- Follow up on unpaid Medicare claims until paid or self-pay balance remains.
- Process claim rejections by correcting errors and resubmitting to Medicare or third-party insurers.
- Consistently meet production and quality assurance standards.
- Provide excellent customer service in line with company policies and client-specific requirements.
- Participate in company-offered training to maintain current billing knowledge.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and client information.
- Accurately process paperwork and support team projects as needed.
- Submit all claims daily with a goal of zero errors.
- Timely follow-up on insurance claim status; respond to inquiries from insurers.
- Manage denial resolution and appeals to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Collaborate with Billing Manager/Supervisor to resolve reimbursement issues.
- Review reports for overlapping dates or readmissions and split/merge/ignore per payer rules.
- Review credit reports, resolve credits, and prepare listings for facilities as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of hospital billing experience (inside or outside TruBridge).
- Medicare DDE experience required.
- CPT and ICD-10 coding knowledge preferred.
- Experience filing insurance claim appeals preferred.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and resolution skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong critical thinking, time management, and accuracy skills.
