Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended hours when requested)

Compensation: $41,000 – $51,000 annually
Job Summary
The Network Administrator is a key member of the Network Operations Team supporting mission-critical business systems at Columbia Southern University. The primary role provides levels 1 and 2 networking-related support to all areas of the organization’s networking infrastructure.
Essential Job Tasks
- Proactively monitors network systems and services to ensure minimal university disruption.
- Delivers regular reports to management on the integrity and availability of all hardware, system resources, key processes, system and application logs, and scheduled jobs.
- Performs routine tasks such as testing power, cables and equipment.
- Provides technical support for network connectivity issues at a beginner and intermediate level.
- Requires on-call after-hours support for critical systems and applications for the duties or functions routinely performed.
- Requires after-hours maintenance activities that affect service availability.
- Requires infrequent travel to off-site hosting locations or training centers.

Knowledge
- Cabling Standards – General understanding of twisted-pair and optical cabling standards.
- Environmental Systems – Basic knowledge of environmental monitoring probes and sensors
- Fire Suppression Systems – Basic knowledge of fire suppression systems in a data center environment.
- LAN and Routing – Basic knowledge of how systems communicate and route on a LAN infrastructure, including knowledge of networking protocols and related equipment.

Education & Experience
- Requires at least 2 years of IT related experience, preferably in the Help Desk and/or networking/systems areas.
- Related industry-leading certification (e.g. CCNA) or equivalent experience is recommended.

- Office equipment includes use of standard business (e.g. computer and phone) and networking equipment (e.g. firewalls, routers, switches).
- Software use includes standard business applications (e.g. Microsoft Office products) and IT-related applications and tools (e.g. monitoring and configuration software).
- Secure and reliable internet is required for this position.
