🧾 About the Role
As a Patient Account Representative, you’ll be the first point of contact for patients with billing questions. You’ll handle inbound calls, process payments, explain financial responsibilities, and resolve billing issues with clarity and compassion. This is a fully remote role, ideal for someone who thrives on helping others and can juggle high call volumes with empathy and precision.


Position Highlights

• Inbound billing support, payment processing, and financial education
• Support for a healthcare revenue cycle team

📋 What You’ll Own
• Answer patient calls about billing statements, account balances, insurance claims, and payment plans
• Process payments by phone (credit card, online, payment plans, etc.)
• Explain complex insurance and billing topics in plain, empathetic language
• Review EOBs and explain claim denials or approvals
• Accurately document all calls and interactions
• Handle patient correspondence (address changes, bankruptcies, returned mail, etc.)
• Work with collections to clarify and update patient account details
• Support self-pay patients and send out financial assistance applications
• Hit KPIs related to call volume, abandon rates, and service response


🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 3+ years of customer service (healthcare billing experience strongly preferred)
• High school diploma or GED
• Strong understanding of HIPAA and healthcare financial regulations
• Excellent phone etiquette, with a calm and clear communication style
• Ability to manage high call volumes and multitask in a remote setting
• Proficient in billing systems, insurance processes, Microsoft Office, and secure payment processing
• Must pass background and credit checks
