WVU Medicine is hiring Certified Oncology Data Specialists to manage critical Cancer Registry data. This part-time, remote position ensures accurate collection, abstraction, and reporting of oncology cases in alignment with HIPAA, Commission on Cancer standards, and internal data quality benchmarks.

📋 What You’ll Own
• Identify, abstract, and document all reportable tumors and malignancies
• Apply AJCC TNM staging and coding protocols (STORE, SEER, ICD-O)
• Perform quality reviews of oncology data
• Conduct follow-up on cancer status, recurrence, and outcomes
• Participate in audits, special studies, and Commission on Cancer requirements
• Generate reports for research, trends, and case analysis
• Support Cancer Committee and attend team meetings
• Maintain required CE credits and certifications
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• Associate degree required
• Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C), credential must be current
• 3+ years experience in case finding, abstracting, and follow-up in a hospital registry
• Familiarity with SEER, AJCC staging, Solid Tumor Rules, NCCN guidelines
• Strong medical terminology, cancer treatment knowledge, and abstracting skill
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting
