🧾 About the Role
The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is the first point of contact for patients and guarantors seeking answers about billing. You’ll manage phone-based inquiries, explain insurance and payment options, and process payments with clarity and empathy. This role balances precision, communication, and patient education to support the financial side of healthcare delivery.
This is a fully remote position.
✅ What You’ll Own
• Answer incoming calls related to billing, statements, insurance claims, and payments
• Review and explain Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
• Process credit card transactions and set up payment plans
• Handle patient correspondence including address corrections, returned mail, and bankruptcy notices
• Communicate with the collections team to ensure accurate balance updates
• Maintain clear, accurate notes and summaries in the billing system
• Help patients complete financial assistance applications
• Support other revenue cycle tasks including outbound payment reminder calls and emailing forms
• Meet or exceed metrics related to call volume, response rate, and abandonment
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 3+ years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare
• Prior remote work experience is a plus
• High school diploma or GED required
• Strong understanding of medical billing, payment processing, and HIPAA regulations
• Proficiency in billing software, Microsoft Office, and navigating insurance claims
• Empathetic and professional communicator with strong problem-solving skills
• Able to manage high call volumes and multitask efficiently
• Must pass a background check, including a credit check
