🧾 About the Role
Optum is hiring a full-time Accounts Receivable (A/R) Clerk to support billing operations for its Southwest Medical Pharmacy and HME services. In this role, you’ll validate insurance, process claims, follow up with payers, and resolve billing discrepancies—playing a key role in keeping cash flow strong and patient accounts accurate.
✅ Position Highlights
• Pay range: $17.74 – $31.63 per hour (based on experience and region)
• Full-time, Monday – Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM PST/MST)
• Remote position (must reside in PST or MST)
• 4–6 weeks of paid training and shadowing

📋 What You’ll Own
• Validate insurance coverage and process recurring rentals
• Submit and follow up on both paper and electronic claims
• Work denials and payment postings in CareTend software
• Resolve billing discrepancies and apply corrected billing
• Manage patient accounts, credits, and claims reconciliation
• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up with payers
• Ensure invoice accuracy and respond to client billing concerns
• Collaborate with internal teams and escalate complex issues when needed
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of recent A/R experience in multi-specialty settings (e.g., Adult Medicine, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Urgent Care)
• 2+ years of experience with claims processing, appeals, or reconsiderations
• Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT codes, and modifiers
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance EOBs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and typing at least 45 WPM
• Flexibility to work occasional overtime as needed
✨ Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with insurers such as BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, UHC, and Health Plan of Nevada
• Medicare and/or Medicaid billing experience
• Familiarity with full-version Adobe (for editing documents)
