Job Description
About you and this role –
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Texas City Rail Logistics Scheduler located in Texas City, TX.
Identifies and resolves potential conflicts, constraints, or deviations in the scheduling plan to meet customer, unit, function or business needs. Initial point of contact for rail carriers to inform them of scheduling plan exceptions. Utilizes Material Flow Work Process knowledge to develop and optimize the scheduling plan and proactively resolve any deviations and/or conflicts from the normal shipment process. Develops technical skills on the job to perform routine work activities using existing standard operating procedures. Completes assigned tasks with a close to moderate degree of supervision.
This role required that you gain proficiency through on-the-job training and experience. You need either deep skills in this discipline or knowledge of a range of processes, procedures, and systems. You also need a broad understanding of the job and know how to apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned tasks. You should understand how your team works with others to accomplish objectives and be able to exchange detailed, complicated information with other team members.
It is your responsibility to evaluate analytical or scientific problems in unusual situations and select solutions based on established procedures. You will serve as an informal resource on operational, administrative, data organization, or coordination tasks for less experienced team members with no direct supervisory responsibilities. Your performance will impact the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of your own work and your team’s work. You should be able to modify work practices and processes to achieve results and/or improve efficiency.
Responsibilities –
- Understands business, site, modal rules, material flow requirements and operational capabilities
- Reviews, identifies and resolves constraints and/or restrictions that may impact the ability to fulfill requests
- Serves as the initial contact for carrier resolution of Rail Transportation.
- Communicates with site logistics contacts and carriers to inform them of scheduling plan exceptions
- Acts as subject matter expert for Material Flow (Site Logistics / Logistics) Work Processes within unit//site
- Identifies all resources required to successfully, safely, accurately, and efficiently complete work requests
- Identifies constraints and/or restrictions that may impact the ability to fulfill work requests
- Monitors work request completion and take appropriate action and creates and distributes scheduling plan (inbound/outbound)
- Verifies that the schedule can be met within the current status of logistics operations
- Communicates with appropriate resources, via proper procedures, to coordinate required services within specified timelines
- Reviews the scheduling plan for completeness, manage changes, exceptions, and facilitate resolution of issues
- Verifies all shipment details for accuracy and completeness and addresses scheduling exceptions (non-compliances)
- Gathers, monitors, reviews, and communicates scheduling performance measures within work processes to appropriate partners
- Records necessary Diamond/SAP system entries in a timely and efficient manner by completing activities such as: shipping, receipt process, and storing/blending production orders.
Qualifications –
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 3 years working in a chemical/industrial facility.
- Current, valid US driver’s license.
- Must be able to work a weekend and on call schedule.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills –
- 5+ years in a supply chain or logistics environment.
- Previous logistics or scheduling experience.
- Proficiency in SAP, GVP, and Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
