The Bilingual Professional Development Design Specialist will work closely with the CKLA and Caminos PD design team to support the development of compelling online and in-person professional learning for educators to support the strong implementation of CKLA and Caminos. The Specialist will report to the Executive Director, Literacy on identifying, prioritizing, conceptualizing, and executing on session initiatives.
Job Description
Responsibilities of the Specialist of Professional Development Design, Bilingual PK-5 Literacy, include:
- Support the creation and design of online and in-person session materials (slide decks, Participant Notebooks, handouts, etc.) for professional learning experiences for teachers and leaders to support strong program implementation of CKLA and Caminos
- Create useful and easy-to-use materials, such as documents, videos, and presentations, that support educators’ understanding of how to implement CKLA and Caminos in a variety of biliteracy models
- Author and modify course content based on designer and user feedback
- Support the creation of onboarding materials to ensure facilitators have the knowledge necessary to deliver the in-person session content
- Support the PD team with ongoing resource updates, team documentation, and platform updates
- Create resources aligned to Amplify branding guidelines
- Copyedit session resources, including slides, slide notes and participant resources
- Track hours and update team project plan with current deliverable status
- Attend team and individual meetings
- Other tasks as assigned by manager
Basic Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and speak with academic-level Spanish
- 3 or more years of experience teaching and/or coaching literacy
- 2 or more years of experience (at scale) designing and facilitating professional development sessions for educators, both in-person and online, that improve outcomes for students
- 2 or more years of experience using CKLA and/or Caminos
- Experience in instructional and graphic design
- Knowledge of the science of reading, writing, and multilingual learners
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology-based productivity tools and learning management systems, including Microsoft Office, Google Applications, video conferencing tools, EasyGenerator, LearnUpon, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel and facilitate sessions, as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field or comparable experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing using Google Slides
- Experience designing content in an authoring tool
- Understanding and compassion for the role of the teachers and leaders
- Experience working with diverse student populations (English learners, SPED, Gifted/Talented, etc.)
- Proficiency with Adobe, Canva and Descript
- Demonstrated client/partnership management experience
- Master’s or Advanced Degree in Education

The hourly rate range for this role is $40.
