This role is for someone who can talk to patients with patience and purpose, then turn confusion into a clear path forward. You’ll screen patients for public assistance programs, help them start applications, and follow accounts through until benefits are secured or every option is exhausted.

About Firstsource
Firstsource supports healthcare operations by helping patients and providers navigate billing, benefits, and account resolution. In this role, you’ll help patients access state, county, and federal assistance programs that can reduce or resolve medical balances. The work is phone-based, documentation-heavy, and focused on outcomes.

Schedule

  • Remote, work from home
  • Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM ET
  • Pay range: $17–$19/hour (depending on experience)

What You’ll Do

  • Screen patients for eligibility for state, county, and federal assistance programs
  • Identify patient needs and help complete applications for the right agencies
  • Initiate the application process when possible and guide patients step-by-step through requirements
  • Educate patients on program options, timelines, and deadlines to keep applications on track
  • Locate patients as needed and coordinate with outside field staff when required
  • Gather necessary information on initial contact whenever possible
  • Document thoroughly and clearly in the CUBS system and track progress of applications
  • Contact government agencies when needed and follow up until benefits are secured or options are exhausted
  • Maintain positive patient relationships throughout the process and meet daily productivity goals

What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service or call center experience (preferred)
  • Medical coding or billing experience (preferred)
  • PC proficiency and typing speed of 30–40 WPM
  • Strong communication skills with patients, coworkers, and outside agencies
  • Professional, courteous demeanor and ability to stay on task with minimal supervision
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to prioritize in a busy environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work from a quiet, private home workspace
