The Student Advisor will report into the Manager, Student Advising and manage a roster of Flatiron School students to provide ongoing coaching and support. Advisors will be responsible for providing individual support to help students set and achieve goals that will lead to success through the student journey. Please note that this role requires individuals to work 20 – 25 hours per week and open to working nights and/or weekends.
Responsibilities:
Hold regular 1:1s with students
Review and analyze student data and to ensure students are moving through the program on pace, and tailor meaningful intervention and support for each student as needed
Independently facilitate / lead / strategically plan student meetings
Support incoming students pre-Day 1 to ensure are appropriately ready and set up for success in the program
Design peer-learning opportunities as necessary and/or beneficial to students
Serve as the first level of escalation for any student issues or challenges
Work cross-functionally with faculty and key stakeholders to ensure the right levels of support for each student
A successful Student Adviser will:
Maintain a student-oriented perspective on the program
Have ability to build trust and connection quickly while remote, and has an intrinsic empathy for the student experience
Demonstrate strong judgment and makes sound decisions
Be skilled in collecting and analyzing data to make well-informed decisions
Be solutions-oriented and has the skills to ask meaningful questions that can dig to the root of problems and challenges
Be highly detail oriented and a skilled multitasker who is able to prioritize competing deadlines effectively

Qualifications:
5+ years of work experience, which may include a background in social work, cognitive-behavioral therapy, or another field that has helped build the skills required to help adults facing difficult challenges to succeed (E.g. Workshop Facilitator, Personal Trainer, Career or Life Coach, Dietician, Teacher)
3+ years of roster management or equivalent experience (admissions, case or account management, etc.)
Experience with academic intervention and familiarity with student support tools a plus
Experience with working on a team remotely
Expected Compensation:
$25/hr – $30/hr
