What You’ll Do
- Process release of information (ROI) requests by retrieving charts, scanning records, and transmitting releases according to established procedures and productivity standards
- Date stamp requests and highlight key data to support accurate processing
- Validate authorizations and ensure releases meet company policy and HIPAA requirements
- Perform quality checks for accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing
- Provide respectful, proactive customer service and follow through on requests as promised
- Handle incoming requests via mail, phone, and fax as needed by the client site
- Maintain clean work area and ensure records are properly stored and secured
- Maintain working knowledge of state laws and fee structures related to ROI
- Support backlogs and take on additional facilities or assignments as needed
- Protect privileged information and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
What You Need
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 2+ years of experience in a medical records department or similar setting (preferred)
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Typing speed of 50 WPM
- Ability to use fax, copier, and scanning equipment
- Quick learner who can adapt to new tools and processes
- Self-motivated team player with proven customer satisfaction skills
