What You’ll Do
- Submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Generate and send invoices, follow up on balances, and resolve billing discrepancies
- Verify patient insurance coverage and secure necessary authorizations/referrals
- Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with regulations
- Record and reconcile payments from insurers and patients
- Investigate and appeal denied claims, addressing root causes
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
- Maintain accurate billing records while ensuring HIPAA compliance
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent (billing/coding certification preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of medical billing experience (healthcare setting preferred)
- Proficiency in medical terminology, billing software (Epic, Cerner, etc.), and claims processes
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving ability to identify solutions and improve processes
- Ability to collaborate across departments to resolve issues
