What You’ll Do
- Prepare and submit hospital, physician, and clinic claims to insurance payers
- Secure medical documentation needed for claim processing
- Follow up on unpaid claims and pursue collection until resolved
- Correct errors, process rejections, and resubmit claims
- Read and interpret EOBs, respond to payer inquiries, and manage denials
- Resolve billing obstacles by collaborating with supervisors and managers
- Review and process late charge reports, readmissions, and overlapping service dates per payer rules
- Handle credit balances, reporting back to facilities as required
- Consistently meet productivity, accuracy, and quality standards
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance
What You Need
- 3+ years of recent billing experience in Critical Access, Acute Care, or physician billing
- Medicare billing experience required
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance payer communication
- Strong skills in claim appeals and maximizing reimbursement
- Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to multi-task and manage high-volume billing processes
