The Compassion Field Experience team is looking for enthusiastic and capable Part-Time International Trip Leaders to lead Church Group Trips and Sponsor Trips. As a Trip Leader you will be called upon to support the fundraising and relational building opportunities that these trips afford. Trips are one of Compassion’s greatest tools in showcasing our ministry. Being a Trip Leader is not only a great support to our partnership development, it’s also a great opportunity to connect with the work Compassion is doing around the world.

As a Trip Leader, you will be responsible for managing expenses, navigating cross cultural relationships, facilitating group devotionals, implementing the trip itinerary as directed by the Relationship Manager, Trip Planner, and National Office staff.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a part-time position with no recurring hours. Part-Time International Trip Leaders will be assigned 6 to 8 trips to lead per fiscal year as scheduled. There is some pre-trip planning and post-trip reporting to be done.

What will you do? 

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer. 
  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur. 
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors
  • Assists with the coordination of multiple field experiences per fiscal year to educate supporters and ministry partners while providing first-hand experience and exposure to Compassion’s core ministry programs to ultimately increase giving and sponsorship of children. Field experiences may vary in type and could include Church Group Trips, External Media Trips, Premium Custom Visits or Sponsor Trips.
  • Acts as a liaison between the National Office and supporters, and provides excellent communication, accurate information, and timely responses, while anticipating and meeting visitor expectations.
  • As directed, prepares communication and locations/international offices to implement field experiences based on marketing and/or child program objectives. Further monitors short and long-term business objectives by which to measure outcomes and maximize return on investment through international field experiences.
  • Assists in monitoring each assigned trip in accordance with established department budgets.
  • Leads Sponsor Trips and Church Group Trips. May serve as a Compassion trip leader or co-leader on less complex trips, visits, virtual connections and other projects as assigned.
  • May be called on to assist with group activities while on a trip. This may include, but is not limited to: team building, education & debriefing, safety & security, problem resolution, attention to medical needs and emergency/crisis response.
  • Assists with both planning and administrative components of trips and visits to provide a seamless end-to-end experience for travelers, often with guidance from the Trip Planner. These responsibilities may include: coordinating trip registration, visas, paperwork, payment processes, trip bookings, as well as post trip evaluation and wrap-up.
  • Prepares and provides resources and materials regarding Compassion programs and trip outcomes.
  • Assists with the work of Sponsor Trips and Church Group Trips to ensure field experience quality and effectiveness. Provides outstanding service and attention to detail to ensure that our guests have an excellent and safe experience.
