As an HR Generalist, you will help Descript make thoughtful and strategic decisions through our systems, policies, and culture. We rely on self starters who do their best work when given the freedom to translate the company’s high level goals into their day-to-day priorities, and are excited to be presented with technical and business challenges that extend beyond their comfort zone.
Sitting on a small but mighty People Operations team, you’ll partner closely with finance, business leaders, and a handful of key vendors on our operational people programs. As we grow, you will have a measurable impact in helping us strike a balance between meeting the needs of employees, teams, and the business.
Responsibilities:
- Support project work in any number of other areas, including total rewards, L&D, talent acquisition and development, DEIB, events and special programs for both US and Canada people operations
- Act as an initial point of contact for a wide range of questions covering topics like benefits, visas, onboarding and offboarding, orientation events, new hires and HR systems
- Execute HR operational processes and services with a focus on employee experience and data integrity
- Partner with key vendors in benefits and immigration, managing relationships and ensuring we are adapting our benefits to the market and the needs of our employees
- Managing leave of absence and paid parental leave programs
- In partnership with legal and other people operations colleagues, support occasional employee relations investigations
- Budget tracking and reporting
- Bring a DEIB lens to all conversations and decisions to continue building a thoughtful and inclusive culture
- Eye for compliance – SOX and ISO reporting
- Global workforce enablement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience in a people operations role
- Experience leading and implementing a benefits strategy
- Strong understanding of legal and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of HR systems (Sapling preferred)
- Experience with (and excited by) researching and implementing new HRIS systems as company needs grow and change
Nice to have:
- Experience in a rapidly growing startup (ideally Series B)
- Passionate about staying in-the-know in a rapidly changing market with regards to compensation planning, remote-based initiatives, and talent management
- Unafraid of spreadsheets and new tools
