What You’ll Do
- Process FMLA and short-term disability paperwork accurately and on time
- Communicate with patients and physician coordinators regarding disability paperwork in a professional, patient-focused manner
- Handle medical record requests while ensuring HIPAA and HITECH compliance
- Complete forms using industry-standard responses for different specialties
- Answer incoming calls, manage multiple lines, and log call data in Excel
- Validate and process incoming requests for PHI (Protected Health Information)
- Ensure disability forms are completed within 5–7 business days after payment
- Maintain professional relationships with account clients and monitor EMR accounts for timely processing
- Conduct quality screenings to protect patient data and maintain disclosure logs
What You Need
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical records department or similar setting
- Familiarity with FMLA/disability forms required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to type at least 50 WPM and operate fax, copier, and scanning equipment
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Self-motivated team player with proven customer service ability
- Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes
