- Standard weekday hours with flexibility required
Responsibilities
- Process FMLA and short-term disability paperwork within required timeframes
- Communicate with patients and physician coordinators regarding disability/FMLA forms with a positive, patient-centered approach
- Validate and process requests for protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and HITECH laws
- Complete disability forms using standard responses based on specialty practice
- Answer incoming calls, capture call data, and provide excellent customer service
- Manage EMR accounts to ensure requests are processed on time
- Verify patient information and requester contact details
- Conduct quality screenings to protect sensitive patient data
- Maintain accurate logs for disclosure and invoicing purposes
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with account clients
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical records department or similar setting
- Knowledge of FMLA/Disability form processes (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to type at least 50 WPM
- Familiarity with fax, copier, and scanning equipment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and adaptable to new processes and tools
