This role will focus on supporting financial reporting and transactional accounting with an emphasis on information and data gathering, product components, pricing, metrics, trending, and analysis. The ideal candidate for this role can roll-up sleeves and dive into details while keeping the big picture in mind. The candidate will work with systems, financial datasets, cross-functional teams, and multiple stakeholders for reporting, research, to recognize patterns, to understand processes, to communicate interpretations, and to deliver results.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, high attention to detail and accuracy, and problem-solving skills
- Experience utilizing Microsoft office products along with SQL, SAS, Teradata, Monarch, Alteryx, Talend, ACL and/or other data programming/ mining software
- Demonstrate the technical and functional skills necessary to participate in the monthly financial close and reporting process including creation of journal entries, preparation and analysis of financial statements, and account reconciliations/documentation
- Create and understand financial reporting packages that include dashboards, formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, analysis, macros, etc.
- Review accounting classifications and transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues to provide explanations and interpretation
- Gather data, perform research, identify trends, communicate findings
- Maintain internal controls
- Support the audit process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders
- Solve complex problems and develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
- Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, IT
- 3+ years of financial/ accounting experience
- Journal entries/account reconciliations
- Financial reporting/analysis for management and/or other stakeholders
- Documenting processes including Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls and audit support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with health insurance systems and working in a complex IT environment
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial statements
- SQL/ programming, data mining, ETL, and data analysis
- Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (dashboards, pivot tables, lookups, macros, etc.)
- Effectively prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
