This role plays a crucial part in Starbucks’ success by providing strategic facility services to our stores through a comprehensive facilities and service management framework. It drives value by optimizing both capital and operational building expenditures. As a director of facilities, West Division you will:
Leadership – Defining Vision, Enhancing Capability, and Fostering Collaboration:
- Articulates and reinforces core responsibilities and best practices to inspire the immediate team, cultivating a culture of growth mindset, trust in leadership, and collaborative effort to drive business success.
- Champions the deployment and implementation of national and local programs, procedures, and methodologies, ensuring alignment with organization and enterprise strategic goals
- Provides strategic counsel and influences cross-functionally and to leadership on budgeting and prioritization, ensuring cohesive alignment and the delivery of exceptional, standardized processes across the organization.
Strategic Planning and Execution – Formulating Visionary Plans, Driving Implementation, and Evaluating Outcomes:
- Drives the creation of long-term strategic plans for the team, aligning with overarching organizational goals.
- Develops and implements short-term operational plans (30-, 60-, and 90-day cycles) to ensure timely and effective execution while ensuring it aligns with the long-term goals and objectives.
- Oversees and refines team and regional processes and practices, ensuring that all initiatives are strategically aligned with facilities services’ objectives.
- Effectively communicates and educates cross-functional stakeholders, suppliers, and team members on policy and procedural updates, facilitating smooth transitions and adherence.
- Demonstrates advanced proficiency in financial concepts and principles, with the ability to perform complex financial calculations and analyses.
- Ability to lead and manage organizational change, guiding the transition to new ways of working and fostering a culture of adaptability.
Business Requirements – Delivering Expertise and Managing Functional Responsibilities:
- Ensures facilities operate and are maintained in accordance with established standards and procedures, continuously evolving these standards to meet changing business and customer needs.
- Develops, reviews, and oversees region’s financial performance, supplier performance, capital project plans,
- Prioritizes and ensures high levels of satisfaction among operating teams and stakeholders.
- Drives R&M optimization and resource allocation leveraging data analytics
- Identifies, implements, and reports on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Demonstrates advanced forecasting and budgeting skills, conducting comprehensive financial and business analyses, including report preparation.
- Cultivates and maintains positive cross-functional relationships, addressing unresolved facility issues with professionalism and efficiency.
- Oversees facility audits, work order progress, and related reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Manages third-party contractors and vendors responsible for property and equipment maintenance, ensuring service quality and compliance.
- Supports special projects and strategic initiatives within the portfolio and across US-owned business operations, contributing to broader organizational goals.
Partner Development & Team Building – Coaching, Mentoring, and Cultivating High-Performing Teams:
- Inspires and challenges partners to excel and drive business results, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Manages and ensures the timely completion of performance reviews, providing constructive feedback to support professional growth.
- Ensures strict adherence to legal and operational compliance requirements, maintaining high standards of practice.
- Oversees the training and development of both directly and indirectly managed partners, making strategic staffing decisions to enhance team effectiveness.
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in facilities management, quick service restaurant (QSR) operations, corporate facilities, or hospitality management.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in building, managing, and developing high-performing teams or departments.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance requirements for facilities management, including both hard and soft services.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building equipment and infrastructure, ensuring effective maintenance and operation.
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional operations and implementing process-driven structures across a geographically and culturally diverse portfolio, including managing remote teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage strategic partners and establish robust relationships with key stakeholders and policymakers.
- Strong analytical abilities, with expertise in root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Skilled in identifying and implementing best-in-class solutions through collaborative efforts and innovative problem-solving.
- Capable of inspiring and motivating others to take decisive action and achieve goals.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the entire region to oversee operations and address facility needs.
- Ideal candidate will be located within the West or Central divisions

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
