The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking a Director of Diabetes Prevention to join our Science & Health Care Team. The Director will be responsible for supporting the implementation of a large-scale transformative CDC cooperative agreement to expand and create a sustainable model for the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) in six states. This cooperative agreement is aimed at utilizing a strategic approach to advance health equity and reduce health disparities via a collective impact model within the ADA Diabetes Prevention Alliance (DPA), a network of stakeholders working together to create a sustainable model for Diabetes Prevention. As a part of this collective impact initiative, the Director will be responsible for leading the ADA’s efforts in developing strategies for medical billing and claims in both supporting the DPA delivery organizations in submitting claims and receiving reimbursement as well as the technical implementation of the process. The Director will focus on engaging with and recruiting payers to partner with the ADA’s DPA and will identify unique and creative approaches to facilitate project implementation. To support the efforts around health equity, the Director will manage the work related to Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Assessments and connecting participants with services to overcome barriers with the ultimate goal of supporting people at risk for diabetes be successful in the lifestyle change program and help meet their needs and cultural values. In addition, the Director will play an important role in identifying efficiencies in process, collection and reporting of data, and understanding the technology development to do so. The Director will also support the Vice President in developing relationships with public and private payers and employers, health care systems, and other groups that can further the strategies. RESPONSIBILITIESBilling and claims process development and technical assistanceStrong understanding of the National DPP and experience with implementing or supporting the implementation of a CDC recognized program including onboarding and Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program (DPRP) data management requirements.Serve as subject matter expert around payer contracting and credentialing with public and private insurers.Work with technology team to develop/build out the billing functionality within the ADA’s billing software to help ensure that claims submitted meet the requirements of payers for reimbursement. Also, provide technical assistance for claims and reimbursement.Supports the DPA’s multi-partner CDC-recognized National DPP lifestyle change program delivery network in implementing existing relevant coverage policies available through public payers (Medicare and Medicaid, where available). This includes becoming a Medicare DPP supplier.Payer collaboration strategyDevelop payer strategies, value propositions, and opportunities to work with traditional and non-traditional payers of the National DPP lifestyle change program.Develop and implement innovative strategies that provide coverage for interventions related to the National DPP lifestyle change program.Recruit additional regional and national payers to this work.Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) strategy developmentIdentify and evaluate the process of assessing participants of the National DPP for SDOH needs and the connection to resources for health-related social needs.Manage contractors that are supporting efforts to connect participants to resources their address their SDOH needs.Partner relationship development and nurtureWork within a collective impact model to help the ADA as the backbone organization meet the 5 pillars including working to ensure communication with the DPA partners.Outreach and meet with potential partners about the value of participating in the DPA and the importance of the vision and goal of the project.Help to nurture existing partnerships through communication and support and identify ways to better support their efforts in the DPA.GeneralWork to ensure that the project is operating within federal requirements and within the scope of the cooperative agreement.Stay informed of new research, changes in policies and trends to proactively address anticipated and actual challenges and opportunities.In collaboration with existing contractors and technology staff, develop and implement reporting tools and dashboards to track, monitor, and recommend course corrections toward project and organizational goals and performance measures.Track workplan activities and performance measures to provide progress on achievement of goals and outcomes to support the reporting as required by CDC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Preferred degree related to health care finance/administration/ billing or public health;Knowledge of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program Standards and Operating Procedures, and implementation or the service required;Enthusiasm and passion to help people improve their health through collaborative efforts;Experience with CDC cooperative agreements and/or federal funding a plus;Bilingual abilities (Spanish and English) are a plus;Must have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills;Ability to manage multiple tasks with timelines in a fast-paced environment; Computer proficiency/ experience with spreadsheets and creating/running reports using Excel;Knowledge of evaluation strategies and data collection;Must possess a strong sense of accountability and the ability to work independently, proactively identifying tasks and areas for improved efficiency.
