UFG is seeking a Customer Service Associate who will assist with the overall claim process by setting up claims, selecting relevant coverage, monitoring losses, answering claims calls and processing necessary documentation.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the claim’s organization at UFG, and as defined by claims best practices, core duties include:
- Review new claim assignments to determine the nature and severity of the claim and intended action required.
- Manage and execute all claim functions such as maintaining proper claims documentation within claims management system, reserving, claim payments, expense factors, and file notes.
- Make prompt, meaningful contact with insureds, claimants and agents.
- Maintain proper communication channels with internal and external customers as defined by claims best practices.
- Review and interpret policy to determine coverage.
- Work with underwriting to determine appropriate coverages.
- Participate in continuing educational programs to develop and maintain knowledge of products, procedures, and industry trends.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Create efficiency initiatives for the claims department.
As a Customer Service Associate, you will:
- Represent UFG and UFG Claims Department through phone, email and fax.
- Be expected to provide the highest level of customer service to UFG customers.
- Select relevant coverages and determine coverage codes.
- Enter claims into an automated system and make the assignment to the appropriate claims representative.
- Monitor new losses with unpaid premium or other coverage issues and set up in a timely fashion as coverage becomes available.
- Process all mail received in imaging system.
- Take claim information from customers over the phone.
- Assist customers with claim inquiries, and when needed, get them in contact with an appropriate UFG representative.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Some college preferred.
Experience:
- 2+ years of customer service experience preferred.
- 2+ years of insurance related experience preferred.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Understanding of basic policy language and policy system inquiry process.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Technical knowledge of computers and being able to work with Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize.
- Ability to work with a team to successfully complete a project.
- Problem solving skills.
- Critical thinking skills.
Working Conditions:
- Remote – Work from home. Must have a quiet office room to work in throughout the day.
