Two Chicks With A Side Hustle

This isn’t “entry-level bookkeeping.” It’s a client-facing, team-lead-ish role where you’re accountable for month-end close quality and you’re basically the calm financial translator for small business owners (their “Pros”).

About Housecall Pro
Same mission: tools + services for home service businesses (HVAC, plumbing, etc.). This role sits in their Accounting Solutions offering inside the Business Solutions suite (exposure to Tax, Payroll, etc.).

Schedule

  • Remote, US-based
  • Pay: $27.38–$32.21/hr (plus benefits)
  • Flexible PTO, 401(k), medical/dental/vision, tech reimbursement

What You’ll Do

  • Own a portfolio of Pros and keep them informed with proactive check-ins and clear explanations
  • Drive month-end close: review, verify, reconcile, deliver accurate books on schedule
  • Partner with internal bookkeepers who do the day-to-day work, and you keep everything moving
  • Answer and troubleshoot client questions like:
    • Financial statement issues, COA cleanup
    • Sales tax basics
    • A/P, A/R messes
    • Merchant services and third-party questions
  • Keep follow-ups tight and service “white-glove”

What You Need

  • 3+ years U.S. bookkeeping/accounting (SMB) including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, A/P + A/R, flux analysis
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance or equivalent cert/experience (ex: QBO ProAdvisor)
  • 1+ year leading/mentoring others
  • Comfort explaining accounting to non-accountants (this is huge)

Benefits

  • Full benefits + 401(k) + flexible PTO + parental leave + EAP + tech reimbursement

Straight-no-chaser fit check:

  • If you don’t have real month-end close + reconciliation reps, this will eat you alive. The job is built around accuracy and deadlines.
  • If you do have that experience and you like being client-facing, this is a nice “advisor” lane that’s part bookkeeping, part customer success, part team lead.

Quick action step (because I’m not letting you overthink):
Answer these two in one message and I’ll write your best “How many years + leadership experience” application responses:

  1. What bookkeeping system(s) have you used (QuickBooks Online? Xero? others)?
  2. Have you actually closed books monthly (yes/no) and for how many clients/companies at once?

Happy Hunting,
