GeneDx (Nasdaq: WGS) is hiring a Billing Support Specialist II to join our growing team. This role manages client and patient billing inquiries, resolves payment issues, and ensures a seamless billing experience for patients and healthcare providers. If you have strong communication skills, billing knowledge, and a passion for helping people, this is a chance to make an impact in precision medicine.

Must be available Monday–Friday between 8:00am–8:00pm EST for an 8-hour shift.

Schedule

  • Remote, U.S.-based
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00am–8:00pm EST (8-hour shift within this window)

What You’ll Do

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers via phone and email.
  • Alternate weekly between inbound call management and handling emails, tickets, and outbound calls.
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient information in billing systems.
  • Review and process medical hold forms, faxes, and billing queues.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, including payments, refunds, and adjustments.
  • Educate patients and providers on billing policies, payment options, and benefit investigations.
  • Collaborate with internal finance and customer service teams to streamline billing operations.
  • Handle inquiries involving prior authorizations and payor types (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, ACOs, Cash Pay).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to billing enhancements.

What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 1–3 years of billing support, healthcare, insurance, or lab/clinical customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and 3rd party payor policies.
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent phone etiquette.
  • Ability to manage high call/email volumes and multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience with billing systems; Xifin, Careviso, and Salesforce a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving, and data entry accuracy.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
