What You’ll Do
- Abstract clinical information from records, charts, and documents
- Assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes according to established procedures
- Confirm DRG assignments and ensure coding accuracy
- Input and maintain procedure data for state and other reporting requirements
- Complete daily data entry of all facility charges and reconciliation
- Monitor charge closing and A/R days for billing staff to stay current
- Work across multiple EHR systems (Epic and Thrive preferred)
What You Need
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
- AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) typically required
- 1–3 years of related coding or billing experience (0 years with additional specialized training accepted)
- Experience in insurance billing and reconciliation
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, DRG, and billing compliance standards
- Ability to calculate figures, percentages, and apply basic algebra/geometry
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Epic and Thrive preferred
