What You’ll Do
- Verify eligibility and claim status via payer websites, eligibility systems, or phone.
- Update patient demographics and insurance details in internal systems.
- Research and resolve unpaid or denied claims.
- Monitor claims for missing data, authorizations, and control numbers.
- Review EOBs for payments/adjustments and resolve discrepancies.
- Contact payers (phone/written) to secure claim payments.
- Access client systems for payment, patient, and claim information.
- Follow claim prioritization, timely filing, and documentation protocols.
- Secure and submit medical documentation as required by payers.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and claim information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Need
- 2+ years of medical collections or billing experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and NCCI.
- Understanding of third-party billing guidelines.
- Knowledge of claim forms (UB04/1500) and payer contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with EMRs, claim scrubbers, and patient accounting systems.
Preferred
- Experience with Epic.
- Coordination of benefits and patient communication experience.
- Background in self-pay credits and refunds.
Compensation
- Pay range: $19–$22/hour, depending on location, experience, and skills.
