What You’ll Do
- Respond to patient billing questions by phone (statements, balances, claims, payment options)
- Take and process payments (credit card, online payments, payment plans) and support financial assistance applications as needed
- Explain insurance coverage, billing processes, and patient responsibility clearly and empathetically
- Review EOBs reflecting payments or denials to help address patient inquiries
- Document call notes and resolutions accurately in the patient account record
- Handle patient correspondence issues (address updates, returned mail, bankruptcy documents, etc.)
- Coordinate with collections to communicate balances, payments, and adjustments on accounts
- Support revenue cycle tasks like contacting self-pay and payment plan patients and sending financial assistance applications
- Meet or exceed performance goals (abandon rate, call volume, answer rate)
What You Need
- 3+ years of customer service experience (healthcare preferred; remote experience preferred)
- High school diploma or GED
- Proficiency with medical billing software, insurance claims processes, Microsoft Office, and payment handling
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with empathy and professionalism
- Ability to manage high call volume
- Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, including HIPAA compliance
- Strong time management and ability to work independently in a remote setting
- Must pass a background check including a credit check
