Schedule
- Full-time, remote (Work from Home)
- Remote location listed as Kansas or U.S. remote (role dependent)
- Reliable, consistent attendance required at assigned start time
- Occasional travel as required
What You’ll Do
- Research overdue balances and follow up with insurance carriers or customers by phone and/or mail
- Review unpaid and underpaid claims and resubmit or appeal as needed
- Verify payment information and escalate adjustments to a supervisor
- Coordinate collections activity for delinquent accounts, including preparing info for outside agencies or attorneys
- Comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
- Respond to customer questions about account status
- Research accounts thoroughly and document activity accurately in the billing system
- Resolve discrepancies and process adjustments and refunds when necessary
- Identify recurring issues and flag them to the department supervisor
- Initiate payments and resubmit bills as needed
- Pursue patient payment obligations when insurance defaults, as permitted by law or contract
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Need
- High school diploma (required)
- 1 year of related experience (required)
- Basic Word and Excel skills
- Strong communication skills and customer service professionalism
- Basic math proficiency and ability to understand and work with spreadsheet data
- Problem-solving skills and comfort working with account research and documentation
