What You’ll Do
- Analyze and follow up on outstanding commercial and government insurance claims, with a primary focus on BCBS accounts
- Research and resolve denials, rejections, and underpayments through corrections, appeals, and resubmissions
- Prepare and submit documentation (EOBs, itemized statements, medical records) required for claim adjudication
- Respond to payer and patient inquiries on delinquent claims while staying compliant with privacy and payer guidelines
- Use payer portals, EHR systems, and patient accounting tools to track claim status, document notes, and manage follow-up activity
- Identify denial and payment delay trends and contribute to process improvements that reduce AR days
- Maintain detailed account documentation and meet or exceed production and quality standards
- Communicate clearly with insurance reps, patients (as needed), and internal teams to resolve outstanding issues
- Prioritize daily workload to hit department benchmarks in a high-volume setting
- Support special projects and additional assignments as needed
What You Need
- 2+ years of experience with commercial or third-party insurance claims follow-up or medical billing
- Knowledge of CPT/ICD codes, insurance terminology, and remittance advice
- BCBS experience (plus)
- EPIC experience (preferred, not required)
- Certifications, licenses, registrations, and/or Medicare certification (plus, not required)
