Schedule
- Remote, part-time contractor
- Coverage windows needed (AZ time)
- Monday–Friday: 4:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Saturday: after 5:00 PM
- Sunday: 4:30 AM–12:00 PM
- Output: 1+ articles per day, up to several days per week (varies)
- Not accepting remote applicants located in California
What You’ll Do
- Write commentary articles under your byline for The Western Journal
- Research assigned topics and build evidence-supported arguments
- Expand beyond the provided source article with additional fact-checking and research
- Deliver pieces that meet format expectations (at least 340 words and 17 paragraphs)
- Adapt as headlines/angles evolve with new information
- Incorporate editor feedback quickly and consistently
What You Need
- Strong grasp of current events, US politics, and cultural issues
- Ability to write with a very strong conservative and/or Christian voice
- Excellent writing, grammar, and organization
- Deadline discipline and comfort writing on weekends
- Ability to support claims with statements, data, and evidence
- WordPress or CMS experience (nice to have)
- News/outlet writing experience (nice to have)
- AP Style knowledge (nice to have)
