What You’ll Do
- Review inpatient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
- Abstract necessary clinical and facility-specific data elements
- Maintain 95.5 percent or higher coding accuracy for diagnoses, procedures, DRG, MCC/CC, and SOI/ROM
- Meet or exceed Conifer’s coding productivity guidelines
- Create compliant retrospective physician queries as needed
- Resolve held accounts and communicate documentation issues that impact DNFB
- Stay current on AHA Coding Clinic guidance, CMS updates, and mandatory education
What You Need
- Minimum two years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in HIM, Nursing, or related field preferred; formal coding coursework accepted
- AHIMA or AAPC credential required (CCA not accepted)
- Strong knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG structures
- Experience with EMRs, encoders, and CDI tools
- Ability to work independently with high accuracy and consistency

- Pay range: $27.30–$40.95 per hour (based on location, experience, and qualifications)
