Schedule
- Part-time, fully remote (U.S. only)
- Flexible hours:
- Complete assigned case reviews on your own time within 5 calendar days
- Case volume varies month to month (no guaranteed minimum)
- Ideal for physicians seeking work that complements an existing clinical practice
Responsibilities
Medical Case Audits & Quality Reviews
- Perform objective medical case reviews using standardized criteria
- Evaluate the timeliness, appropriateness, and quality of care delivered
- Identify opportunities for clinical and process improvement
Performance Improvement & Specialty Reviews
- Review cases initiated for non-standard performance improvement reasons
- Assess medical decision-making for alignment with evidence-based best practices
- Identify patterns or gaps that may impact patient outcomes
Medical Advisory Opinions
- Provide expert, written medical opinions based on clinical evidence
- Analyze complex clinical scenarios from an impartial, standards-based perspective
- Support quality initiatives aimed at improving VA healthcare delivery
Requirements
- Licensure & Certification
- Active, unrestricted physician license in any U.S. state or territory
- Board certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in your specialty
- At least 2 years of recent clinical practice directly relevant to the specialty/cases reviewed
- Actively engaged in direct patient care (minimum 20 clinical hours per month)
- Current hospital privileges in your specialty
- Skills
- Strong clinical judgment and comfort with complex case review
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to apply evidence-based guidelines and standards of care consistently
- High attention to detail, objectivity, and professionalism
- Fluent in English (reading and writing)
