Schedule
- Full-time, remote position
- Core business hours aligned to Eastern Time
- Standard office environment with computer-based work
Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to consults and follow-up visits
- Obtain pre-certifications, referrals, or authorizations from insurance companies or primary care offices
- Record and index benefit and certification details into the EMR system
- Audit schedules to confirm all patients are verified and active, documenting any coverage restrictions
- Prioritize workload to meet deadlines and avoid payment issues
- Serve as a reference for team members and collaborate with other departments to resolve insurance concerns
- Index incoming records and referrals
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college/technical certificate preferred
- 2–3 years of experience in a medical or related field
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and health insurance industry practices
- Familiarity with medical billing and scheduling systems preferred
- Proficient computer literacy and attention to detail
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, and walk regularly; repetitive use of hands/arms
- Ability to see, speak, and hear for effective communication
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or lift 10–20 pounds
