Responsibilities
- Evaluate medical billing and coding for accuracy and compliance with program standards.
- Match medical records with proper codes, requesting missing information if necessary.
- Apply policy guidelines, healthcare terminology, and criteria to ensure correctness.
- Investigate new potential cases and pursue recoveries (med-pay, liability, no-fault, workers’ comp).
- Provide QA oversight for complex or quality-sensitive cases.
- Communicate with clients, reviewers, and office staff to ensure clarity and completeness.
- Work within program deadlines and deliver error-free case reviews.
Requirements
- CPC, APCC, or DRG coder certification (required).
- Payment integrity or professional bill review experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Texas billing resources (FairHealth, Medicaid Texas, Texas Healthcare, etc.).
- Out-of-network bill review and counter-audit experience is a plus.
- Medical office or healthcare background.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer tools (Google Chrome, Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.).
- Must have access to personal billing references/engine.
- Ability to work with urgency, meet deadlines, and handle details with accuracy.
