What You’ll Do
- Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Generate and send invoices to patients, following up on outstanding balances
- Verify insurance coverage and authorizations before services are rendered
- Assign proper medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for billing compliance
- Record and reconcile payments from insurers and patients
- Investigate and appeal denials, preventing recurring issues
- Communicate with patients about billing, payment plans, and financial options
- Maintain up-to-date, compliant records of billing activities
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent; billing/coding certification preferred
- At least 1 year of medical billing experience in healthcare
- Knowledge of medical terminology, billing software (Epic, Cerner), and claim processing
- Strong detail orientation and organizational skills
- Effective communication with patients, providers, and insurance reps
- Problem-solving ability to resolve billing discrepancies
- Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across departments
