What You’ll Do
- Request, review, and verify medical records from clinicians’ offices.
- Extract key medical details to meet payer requirements for “medical necessity.”
- Create and submit custom medical record and appeal cover letters.
- Communicate with clinicians, patients, and payers regarding documentation and appeals.
- Review and analyze insurance denials, then prepare tailored appeal letters.
- Ensure compliance with CMS and payer documentation policies.
- Handle high-volume claims work (35+ claims daily) with accuracy.
- Make outbound calls to patients regarding consent and appeals.
What You Need
- 2+ years in health insurance billing with experience in reviewing and extracting data from medical records.
- Experience resolving denied claims (post pre-approval/processing).
- Deep knowledge of payer medical policies, CMS documentation requirements, and medical necessity criteria.
- Ability to manage high-volume claims work efficiently.
- Typing speed: 35+ WPM with ≥90% accuracy.
- At least 1 year as a Reimbursement Specialist with one employer.
Schedule & Travel
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (CST).
- Remote, US-based home office.
- Minimal travel (<5%) for training/meetings.

- Salary: $47,277/year + 20% bonus potential.
