Responsibilities
- Review accounts and follow up with Medi-Cal and other insurance companies regarding claim status
- Research and resolve remits and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to ensure accurate payments or address denials
- Submit corrected claims, rebilling, appeals, and secondary claims (electronic or paper)
- Prepare, research, and collect from Medi-Cal and contracted health insurance payers
- Provide or coordinate additional documentation when requested
- Request adjustments when appropriate and escalate issues requiring client input
- Track payer trends and share feedback with leadership
- Deliver excellent customer service to healthcare contract customers
Requirements
- Medi-Cal experience required
- EPIC experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of government and commercial billing guidelines for facility/physician services
- Understanding of UB04 and HCFA forms
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and customer service skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication abilities
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred
- Prior medical billing, insurance collections, or healthcare revenue cycle experience strongly preferred
