🧾 About the Role
Symetra is hiring an Associate Underwriter to evaluate and price new and renewal business for Life, AD&D, Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), FML, and Supplemental Health products. You’ll help shape pricing strategies, manage a book of business, and support cross-selling efforts in collaboration with sales and actuarial teams.
✅ Position Highlights
• $48,200–$64,300 salary + annual bonus eligibility
• Full-time, remote or hybrid flexibility
• Work on group plans ranging from 100 to 1,500 lives
• Underwrite both new business and renewals
• Target $1.5 million in new sales annually
📋 What You’ll Own
• Review RFPs and validate census/plan data for new business
• Generate pricing recommendations using manual rating and credibility formulas
• Underwrite renewal accounts for large market customers (Life up to 1,000 lives; Supplemental Health up to 5,000 lives)
• Manage a portfolio of sold accounts and renewals according to internal guidelines
• Collaborate with sales, actuarial, and service teams on pricing and growth strategy
• Contribute to internal projects and maintain accurate reporting on pre-sale and renewal activity
