Job Purpose and Overview
The Logistics Planner I supports the overall third-party transportation operations by understanding and performing daily tasks within Dawn’s Transportation Management System. This position is responsible for planning and executing shipments for specific Dawn locations and identifying opportunities for improvement within Dawn’s third-party transportation network. This position requires multi-departmental communications with sales, customer service, supply center operations, manufacturing, fulfillment, and procurement.
This is a remote, home-based position, with the requirement that candidates reside within the MST, CST, or EST time zones. It is preferred that the candidate be located within a commutable distance of one of our Distribution Centers in Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Louisville, KY; or Piscataway, NJ.
What will you do as a Logistics Planner I at Dawn Foods?
- Complete daily transportation planning execution in E2open for assigned locations.
- Monitor and act on daily exception reports.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve service or operational issues.
- Provide load status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Develop operational relationships with Carrier Partners, Dawn Plants, Distribution Centers, Customer Service, and Fulfillment Team Members.
- Provide one-off freight quotes.
- Participate in Carrier Partner performance evaluation efforts.
- Manage shipment OS&D instances through to resolution.
- Drive continuous improvement through all areas of responsibility by recommending and executing strategies to improve network efficiencies.
- Demonstrate Team Dawn’s “Dawn Values” and support the Dawn Circle of Excellence.
What Does It Take to be a Logistics Planner I at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related business degree preferred and 2 years of related supply chain experience or in lieu of degree 5 years of related supply chain experience.
- Must have operational knowledge of E2open/Blujay (or similar transportation planning system), Excel, Word, & Microsoft Outlook.
- Knowledge of general supply chain concepts.
- Proven experience engaging with trucking companies with a detailed knowledge of truckload shipping.
- Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations.
- The ability to multi-task in fast-paced, high-pressure situations and always maintain a positive & caring attitude.
- Requires strong organizational skills, is dedicated, and is a true team player.
