About the organization…
Road Scholar is a mission-based not-for-profit educational travel organization founded in 1975. We offer educational programs in 150 countries and all 50 states. In addition, we offer Adventures Online and Virtual Lectures, rich in educational content broadcasted from the world’s most fascinating places. We help adults fulfill their dreams to learn about the world, from exploring the geology of the Grand Canyon to discovering the artwork of Paris with their grandchildren.
About the role…
As a Contact Center Representative you will use your customer service skills to answer a wide range of questions, from the temperature in the Arctic in February to best time to see wildlife in Yellowstone while using your sales skills to enroll participants in our International, North America, Adventures Afloat, and virtual programs – all while working from home!
You will…
Manage inbound calls throughout the day and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Foster relationships with Road Scholar participants through active listening and engagement
Resolve participant issues — we’ll provide the tools
Enroll participants in our educational adventures to fulfill their dreams to learn about the world!
Navigate various computer applications, use your Search Engine skills and toggle between applications while on the phone
Ask for referrals and contributions to help us fulfill our not-for-profit mission
Follow our Service & Sales Roadmaps —your GPS through the calls
Identify issues and come up with creative solutions — the answer starts with you!
Share innovative ideas to increase enrollments and enhance the overall participant experience
Advise on best places to learn and explore — you are the expert!
Work with teammates to achieve organizational goals
Receive ongoing development — individualized coaching and feedback
Set personal development goals — push yourself to be the best
Attend trainings — we practice what we preach and are always learning!
You have…
High School Degree/GED required. College degree and/or comparable experience is a plus.
Geography proficiency.
1- 2 years’ experience working in fast-paced, goal-oriented and team-based structured service and sales environment
Excellent communication, decision-making, persuasion and closing skills a must!
Customer service and sales experience – Enthusiastic about sales through service
Results driven mindset —enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter – goal setter and goal getter
Technical aptitude and the ability to pick up new technology quickly-ability to learn new programs in a snap and use organizational tools to support your efficiency and performance
Strong CRM and computer skills -Tech savvy (Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce & Zoom)
A “can-do” attitude and solutions- focused approach to this role, doing your best to help every participant and giving them a great experience with Road Scholar
Reliability, flexibility, and commitment to rotating schedules
A passion for travel
The ability to work from home with an internet connection and direct connect via Ethernet
A love for learning, seeking feedback and working as a team player
Energy and bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn, as well as being able to multi-task while being comfortable in a fast-paced work environment.
