As an Accounts Receivable Specialist I, you’ll be the financial backbone behind patient services, ensuring claims are followed up on, denied charges are appealed, and payments get posted correctly. 📋 What You’ll Own
• Verify patient eligibility and authorization via payer websites or phone
• Update demographics and insurance details in client systems
• Monitor claims for denials, missing information, or underpayments
• Review EOBs, UB-04s, and resubmit claims when errors occur
• Contact payers by phone or in writing to resolve open balances
• Draft and submit technical appeal letters
• Research billing guidelines and documentation requirements
• Prepare claims for clinical audits when necessary
• Collaborate with internal teams and external payers to recover revenue
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, and company standards
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of healthcare A/R follow-up experience (hospital, system, or payer-side)
• Strong grasp of denial codes, EOB interpretation, and payer-specific billing practices
• Familiarity with contracts and coordination of benefits rules
• Comfort with systems like Excel, Internet Explorer, and payer portals
• Effective communicator—both verbally and in writing—with an eye for accuracy
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Organized, focused, and performance-driven
