WVU Medicine is hiring a Remote Insurance Claims Specialist (Hospital Billing) to manage patient account balances, ensure timely and accurate claims submission, resolve denials, and support best-in-class revenue cycle operations. You’ll play a key role in safeguarding hospital financials while maintaining a high level of customer service and compliance with state, federal, and third-party billing regulations.

📋 What You’ll Own
• Submit accurate, timely claims to third-party payers
• Resolve billing edits and account errors before submission
• Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims using payer portals and web tools
• Investigate denials and support denial resolution with Patient Access and Care Management
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and PHI protocols
• Complete reports and reconcile billing transactions
• Organize daily tasks for high productivity and efficiency
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients, staff, and stakeholders
• Support ongoing performance improvement and revenue cycle initiatives
• Attend virtual meetings and continuing education sessions
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• 1+ year of experience in medical billing or a medical office (preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of medical billing systems and terminology
• Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, and payer policies (preferred)
• Solid customer service and phone etiquette
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
• Computer proficiency (keyboard, fax, email, business software)
