Cooper Thomas, LLC, a trusted HIM partner to the Department of Veterans Affairs, is hiring 20 Full-Time Remote Outpatient Medical Coders to support a newly awarded, long-term federal contract. 📋 What You’ll Own
• Code multi-specialty outpatient encounters using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
• Apply E/M leveling for clinic and ED visits using 1995, 1997, and 2022 guidelines
• Maintain 95%+ accuracy while meeting a minimum of 10 encounters per hour
• Utilize E/M calculator and 3M Encoder proficiently
• Complete assignments within a 5-day turnaround time (TAT)
• Follow site-specific coding guidelines and documentation standards
• Ensure compliance for all coded data
🎯 Must-Have Traits & Experience
• Minimum 2 years of VA or federal outpatient coding experience
• Ability to meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks
• Strong foundation in clinical terminology, anatomy, and reimbursement systems
• Active credential from AHIMA or AAPC (see accepted credentials below)
• Comfortable with remote work and self-managing deadlines
• Candidates with active Background Investigation, PIV Card, eToken, or Citrix access are strongly preferred

American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC):
