đź“ť About the Role
Nira Medical is hiring a Benefits and Authorizations Specialist Lead to guide critical pre-service functions that ensure patients can access and afford their medical and infusion treatments. In this role, you’ll verify insurance benefits, submit authorizations, support financial assistance enrollment, and act as the first line of defense when dealing with denials—all while helping to reduce treatment delays and improve the patient experience.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
• Verify and document patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for office and infusion services
• Submit prior authorizations and obtain pre-certifications for both office visits and infusion treatments
• Navigate insurance denial mitigation processes, including coordinating peer-to-peer reviews and appeal submissions
• Stay up to date with payer-specific infusion drug authorization guidelines and regulatory policies
• Calculate and communicate out-of-pocket costs to patients accurately and compassionately
• Support patients in accessing financial assistance, including copay programs and manufacturer support
• Maintain knowledge of J-codes, CPT, and ICD-10 coding to ensure accurate documentation
📌 What You’ll Need
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• 2–3 years of experience in insurance verification and prior authorizations (infusion services strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical documentation review
• Knowledge of insurance structures, authorization workflows, and common denial reasons
• Experience using Athena EMR (a plus, not required)
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
