Fullsteam is hiring a seasoned, detail-obsessed Senior Manager of Payroll to lead payroll operations across all 50 U.S. states and Canadian provinces. You’ll manage payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, third-party vendors, and team development—all while optimizing systems and streamlining processes across a rapidly expanding, acquisition-driven fintech company. 📋 What You’ll Own
• Oversee full-cycle payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and provincial laws
• Manage and mentor the payroll team while maintaining service-level accuracy and deadlines
• Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Workday teams to ensure clean data flows and operational efficiency
• Partner with OneSource Virtual (OSV) and other third-party providers for seamless payroll processing
• Lead multi-state tax filings, Canadian tax compliance, and regulatory reporting (W-2s, ROEs, T4s, T4A)
• Support M&A activities, ensuring smooth payroll integration and system onboarding
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to workflows, reporting, and system automation
• Serve as payroll escalation point—resolving issues swiftly and clearly
• Prepare internal audit reports and support external audits with compliant, timely documentation
• Champion company values and contribute to a collaborative, high-integrity team culture
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 10+ years in hands-on, multi-state payroll processing
• 4+ years leading and developing payroll teams
• Deep experience with U.S. and Canadian payroll and tax compliance
• Mastery of Workday for payroll, reporting, and audits
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills
• Proven experience navigating payroll complexities in M&A integrations
• CPP, PCP, or PLP certification preferred
• High attention to detail, ethics, and process ownership
• Clear communicator—can explain payroll nuances to non-experts
