Endgame360 is looking for a qualified and experienced Freelance Coordinator to join our team in the areas of Entertainment news/content. Previous experience managing a team of freelance writers is required and working for a digital media publication with an emphasis in these verticals is preferred. As a Freelance Coordinator, you may be required to work within other focus areas, as needed.

LOCATION
Anywhere in the continental United States as the company operates virtually across approximately 30 states currently. Endgame360 is headquartered in Asheville, NC, but has been a remote workforce since inception. Preference may be given to candidates located in states in which we currently operate: AK, AL, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, or WV. However, we may not automatically disqualify those living elsewhere in the United States.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Freelance Coordinator reports to the Managing Editor of the specific site. The Freelance Coordinator will oversee a team of contracted freelance writers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Endgame360 is looking for a full-time Freelance Coordinator to organize and execute our production that happens outside of our editorial team. This role is responsible for executing on the freelance team’s mission and goals. This person needs to be ambitious, flexible, and eager to learn and grow as a vital part of our editorial team.
The ongoing responsibilities are as follows.
- Report to the Managing Editor and be an active participant in a complex and dynamic editorial process.
- Lead a team that’s responsible for a session target goal that a group of freelancers will provide with their work.
- Execute on the freelance team’s goals for publishing a set amount of articles per week.
- Consistently evaluate the ongoing success of freelancer work from all aspects, including programmed headlines, overall PVs, and audience engagement.
- Correspond with freelancers regarding quality of work, execution of their contract terms, updates to the workflow, and anything else as needed.
- Study and internalize the best practices for interacting with freelancers to ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Work with site leadership to identify coverage gaps and create a freelance hiring plan for addressing them. Work with site leadership and People Ops to address hiring needs on your team by taking the lead in the writer hiring process to fill openings on your team.
- Take ownership of the daily workflow for publishing freelancer work as needed: Reviewing pitches using our in-house tools, formatting completed works in WordPress, adding media, editing, packaging, and scheduling.
- Regularly seek and suggest ways to continue improving our freelance workflow. Take the lead in defining and implementing workflow changes for freelancers to accomplish increased efficiency, improved communication, higher quality, or other goals that support our overall site and company goals.
- Seek leadership and/or collaborative growth opportunities, such as being a resource for brainstorming with other team members or proactively working with the Managing Editor to bring additional resources to the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years experience in an editor role managing freelance and/or full- or part-time writers. You will have a successful track record with content planning, writer hiring, and people management.
The final candidate will have many of the following experiences, skills, and personal attributes.
- Outstanding communicator – both oral and written, with the poise, maturity and collaborative skills to establish relationships at all levels and across all functions of the organization.
- Overall ownership of workflow best practices and proven time management skills to balance varying tasks.
- Experience with editing written content providing feedback to writers about their work.
- An understanding of the digital media business and industry.
- Experience with Google Analytics or other content analytics tools, particularly to make data-based decisions about which content and writers are effective.
- A background in and passion for content creation and editing.
- Grounded knowledge of key SEO best practices including crafting engaging headlines, editing for strong subheadings, and other ranking factors in an article.
- Experience using WordPress or another CMS.
- Experience using communication tools like Slack, Asana, and GSuite.
- The ability and willingness to use video call technology for 1:1 meetings, and small and large team meetings.
- The ability to build strong relationships and work closely with a team of remote employees.
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to the varying and ever-changing demands of the job.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or similar field.
COMPENSATION
Annual salary range $65,000
